The Front Porch is the New Back Deck

Maybe it’s the economy, maybe it’s HGTV, maybe it’s about time – but a recent trend toward creating “living spaces” on the FRONT of a home is undeniable.  Homeowners have been focusing tremendous design energy and resources on increasing the curb appeal of their homes by amping up their front porch.  And, we love it!

For years, the emphasis on deck building has been on the back deck.  While this extra footprint of a home is both affordable and private, the front porch creates the warm welcome to the entire entrance – it demands attention and says, “This is who we are!”  From decking options and patterns to modern and stylish railings, the front porch sets the tone for the entire rest of your home. And, for those neighbors who you may never have over but you want to show your “friendly” side to, the front entry creates a neighborly tone that showcases your personality.

Check out these great images of recent front porches that we designed and built, right here in Alaska.
